316 Stainless Steel Foils are ultra-thin metal strips made from 316 austenitic stainless steel through precision rolling, bright annealing, and other processes. Their thickness typically ranges from 0.02mm to 0.1mm. Containing 2%-3% molybdenum and a higher nickel content (10%-14%), they offer 3-5 times greater resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking and pitting. They effectively resist corrosion failure in seawater, salt spray, acidic media (such as acetic acid and citric acid), and high-temperature environments. They possess balanced mechanical properties, with a room temperature tensile strength of 460-860MPa and an elastic modulus of 190-210GPa, while maintaining good ductility and toughness, and an elongation at break of up to 60%. In terms of physical properties, it has a density of 7.96 g/cm³, a melting point of 1370-1400℃, and a thermal conductivity of 16.3 W/(m·K). It exhibits excellent stability in high and low temperature cycling environments and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -270℃ to 816℃.

 Material Differentiation: When choosing between 316 and 316L, ordinary 316 stainless steel has a carbon content ≤0.08% and is suitable for general working conditions; 316L is a low-carbon grade (carbon content ≤0.03%), with stronger resistance to intergranular corrosion, suitable for welding, continuous high-temperature working conditions, and medical and food contact applications. Selection should be based on welding requirements, operating temperature, and corrosive environment.

 Thickness and Tolerance Control: Select thickness according to application scenario: 0.01-0.05mm ultra-thin foil is commonly used in electronic components, and 0.05-0.1mm specifications are commonly used in chemical filtration. Thickness tolerance directly affects precision assembly accuracy; for high-end manufacturing, products with tolerances ≤±10% are recommended.

 Food-grade vs. Industrial-grade Distinction: Not all 316 stainless steel foil is suitable for food contact applications. It must be certified to GB 4806.9-2023 standards to ensure heavy metal migration levels meet requirements. Industrial-grade 316 stainless steel foil prioritizes mechanical properties and should not be used in food or medical applications.

 Surface Treatment Requirements: Standard products offer a bright annealed surface. Custom surface treatments such as nitriding, chrome plating, and passivation can be applied to improve hardness, conductivity, or corrosion resistance, adapting to special working conditions.
