80% Ferromanganese improves the strength, hardness, and toughness of steel and helps prevent "hot shortness" by combining with sulfur to form more stable manganese sulfide. This alloy is produced through the carbothermal reduction of manganese ores in electric furnaces.

Composition: Primarily an alloy of iron and manganese, with manganese content typically between 75-85%. The remainder is mostly iron, with varying amounts of carbon and other elements depending on the grade .
