PH stainless steel is a type of high-strength stainless steel that adds different types and quantities of strengthening elements to the chemical composition of stainless steel. Different types and quantities of carbides, nitrides, carbonitrides and intermetallic compounds are precipitated through the precipitation hardening process, which not only improves the strength of the steel but also maintains sufficient toughness.

Common Grades of PH Stainless Steel

17-4 PH (UNS S17400)

One of the most widely used precipitation hardening stainless steels.

Composition: Contains chromium (around 15-17.5%), nickel (3-5%), and copper (3-5%).

15-5 PH (UNS S15500)

Similar to 17-4 PH but offers improved toughness.

Composition: Similar to 17-4, with variations in alloying elements.

High-strength PH stainless steel known for excellent toughness and stress corrosion resistance.
