422 Stainless Steel Sheet

422 stainless steel sheet has superior corrosion resistance compared to ordinary carbon steel, and can withstand common corrosive environments such as atmospheric conditions and neutral salt solutions at room temperature. However, its corrosion resistance is not as good as austenitic stainless steels such as 304, making it more suitable for use in high-temperature conditions with mild corrosion.

Raw Material Smelting: 422 stainless steel sheet is smelted using an AOD+ESR process. This combined process allows for precise control of impurity content in the molten steel, adjustment of alloy element ratios, and ensures uniformity and purity of material composition, laying the foundation for subsequent performance.

Bill Preparation: The smelted molten steel is poured into a continuous casting machine and rapidly cooled and solidified through a crystallizer and cooling water to produce steel billets that meet rolling requirements. The billet specifications need to be planned in advance according to the final plate size.

Forging Pretreatment: To improve the density of the billet and reduce internal defects, the steel billet undergoes forging.

Rolling Process: This includes hot rolling and cold rolling.

Heat Treatment Optimization: The rolled sheet metal requires annealing, quenching, and tempering.

Subsequent Processing and Inspection: The sheet metal undergoes subsequent processing such as cutting, polishing, and sandblasting to meet the appearance and dimensional requirements of different applications. Afterward, multiple tests are conducted, including mechanical property testing, eddy current testing, and pitting corrosion protection testing. Once qualified, the sheet metal is packaged in wooden crates, pallets, or wrapped in heat-shrink film to ensure it is not damaged during transportation.
