Preparation:

Wrapping:

Place the workpiece in the center of the foil sheet.

Fold the foil over the workpiece, ensuring it is tightly wrapped.

Seal the edges by folding and crimping them to prevent any air from entering. For an airtight seal, you can double fold the edges or use a crimping tool.

Heat Treating:

Place the wrapped workpiece in the furnace.

Set the furnace to the required temperature for the specific heat treating process (annealing, hardening, tempering, etc.).

Allow the workpiece to reach the desired temperature and maintain it for the necessary duration.

Cooling:

After the heat treatment is complete, allow the wrapped workpiece to cool in a controlled manner as specified for the particular process. This could involve air cooling, quenching in oil, or water.

Once the workpiece has cooled sufficiently, carefully remove the stainless steel foil. Use gloves and tongs to handle the hot foil and workpiece to avoid burns.

 

Protective Gear: Always wear heat-resistant gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing when handling hot materials and foil to prevent burns and injuries.

Proper Ventilation: Ensure good ventilation in the heat treating area to disperse any fumes or gases that might be released during the process.

Safe Handling: Be cautious when removing the foil from the cooled workpiece as it can have sharp edges and may still be hot.
