Calcium Silicon

Calcium silicon, is also known as silicon calcium alloy. It belongs to the category of ferroalloys. The main chemical components are silicon and calcium. It also contains impurities such as iron, aluminum, carbon, sulfur, etc. It's an ideal compound deoxidizer and desulfurizer that can be widely used in the production of steels such as high-quality steel, low-carbon steel, stainless steel, and special alloys such as nickel base alloy, and titanium base alloy. CaSi alloy can also be applied as the heat-raiser for converter steelmaking, the inoculant for cast iron production, and addictive for nodular cast iron production.

In cast iron production, the calcium silicon alloy has an inoculation effect. helped to form fine grained or spheroidal graphite; in the grey cast iron Graphite distribution uniformity, reduces chilling tendency, and can increase silicon, desulfurization, and improve the quality of cast iron.

Calcium silicon is widely used as a deoxidizer and desulfurizer in steelmaking. It also serves as a warming agent for converter steelmaking and as an additive in the production of ductile iron and inoculants for cast iron.

Both calcium and silicon have a strong affinity for oxygen, with calcium also exhibiting a strong affinity for sulfur and nitrogen. The silicon-calcium alloy not only possesses powerful deoxidation capabilities, but its deoxidation products are also easily floatable and removable. This enhances the performance of steel, improving its shape, toughness, and fluidity. Currently, Calcium silicon alloy is increasingly being used as a substitute for aluminum in deoxidation processes.
