Product Description
Metallic silicon is hard and brittle, has semiconductor properties, and has a melting point of about 1414℃. It easily reacts with oxygen, acid (except hydrofluoric acid) and metal to form silicide. Metallic silicon is classified according to the impurity content. Common grades include 553 (silicon ≥ 98.5%, iron ≤ 0.5%, aluminum ≤ 0.5%, calcium ≤ 0.3%), 441, 3303, etc. The smaller the number, the higher the purity (the fewer impurities).
Products application
1. Alloy manufacturing: Metallic silicon is a key component of aluminum alloys (such as automotive parts and aviation materials), which can improve strength and corrosion resistance.
2. Electronics and photovoltaics: High-purity metallic silicon (purity above 99.999%) is used in semiconductor chips, solar panels, etc.
3. Chemical industry: Raw materials for the production of silicone (polymers such as sealants and lubricants), silane and fumed silica.
4. Steel smelting: As a deoxidizer and alloying agent, it removes oxygen from molten steel and improves the mechanical properties of steel.
