a. High-Temperature Strength

Improved Creep Resistance: The increased carbon content in 304H gives it superior creep resistance and tensile strength at temperatures above 500°C (932°F), making it ideal for environments where the material must withstand prolonged exposure to high heat.

b. Corrosion Resistance

General Corrosion Resistance: Like 304 and 304L, 304H offers excellent resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments, including acidic and alkaline solutions.

High-Temperature Corrosion Resistance: It resists oxidation and scaling at temperatures up to 870°C (1600°F) in continuous use and 925°C (1700°F) in intermittent service.

c. Mechanical Properties

Tensile Strength: Approximately 515 MPa (75 ksi)

Yield Strength: Around 205 MPa (30 ksi)

Elongation: About 40% in the annealed condition

Hardness: Typically within 70-90 Rockwell B, depending on heat treatment

d. Weldability and Fabrication

Weldability: 304H can be welded using standard welding techniques, but due to its higher carbon content, post-weld annealing may be required to restore corrosion resistance.

Formability: 304H retains good formability, allowing it to be easily shaped, bent, and rolled into various products, including sheets, without cracking or breaking.
