Nickel Alloy Stainless Steel

Nickel is key to forming and stabilizing the austenitic structure in stainless steel. This structure provides superior toughness, ductility, and resistance to corrosion. Unlike ferritic or martensitic stainless steels, austenitic grades do not become brittle at low temperatures, which is essential for many critical applications.

Nickel, especially when combined with molybdenum, greatly enhances stainless steel's resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion caused by chlorides. This is crucial in marine environments and in industries where exposure to chloride ions is common.
