Fabrication Techniques
Forming
Alloy 625 can be readily formed through both hot and cold working methods. Hot forming is typically performed at temperatures around 1,800°F (982°C), while cold forming can be done at room temperature.
01
Machining
Alloy 625 can be machined using standard techniques. However, due to its high strength and toughness, it may require slower feed rates and sharper cutting tools.
02
Bending and Rolling
The alloy can be bent or rolled into various shapes. Proper preheating is recommended for thick sections to prevent cracking during these processes.
03
Forging
Alloy 625 can be forged into various shapes, benefiting from its ability to maintain mechanical properties even after significant deformation.
04
Heat Treatment
While not always necessary, heat treatment can be used to enhance certain mechanical properties. Solution annealing at approximately 2,000°F (1,093°C) followed by rapid cooling is common.
