Black Granular High Carbon Silicon, also known as silicon carbide alloy, is a granular alloy material primarily composed of silicon (Si) and carbon (C). It is typically manufactured from raw materials such as quartz sand, petroleum coke, and high-quality silica through high-temperature smelting in a resistance furnace, followed by crushing, screening, and magnetic separation processes. It appears as black granules, and the particle size can be customized according to requirements.
Composition: The silicon content is usually between 60% and 70%, and the carbon content is 6%-8% (some high-grade products can have adjustable carbon content of 2%-4%). ​​The remainder consists of iron and trace amounts of phosphorus, sulfur, and other impurities. High-quality products can achieve SiC purity of over 98%, with Fe₂O₃ content ≤0.4%, effectively reducing the risk of contamination to downstream products.
Mechanical and Thermal Properties: Mohs hardness is as high as 9.15, second only to diamond and boron carbide. Its mechanical strength is superior to corundum, and it is brittle and sharp; the melting point is approximately 1350-1450℃, and the operating temperature can reach 1900℃. It has a low coefficient of thermal expansion, maintaining stable performance in high-temperature environments, and exhibits excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance.
Physical Form: The granular structure facilitates storage, transportation, and automated feeding. Particle size specifications cover F12-F220 (FEPA standard), 12 mesh-220 mesh (JIS standard), etc., adaptable to the process requirements of different industrial scenarios.

1. Raw Material Proportioning: Carefully selected high-purity quartz sand, low-sulfur petroleum coke, and high-quality silica are mixed in precise proportions, with sawdust added to regulate the reaction atmosphere, controlling impurity content from the source.
2. High-Temperature Smelting: The mixed raw materials are fed into a resistance furnace, where a chemical reaction occurs at temperatures above 2200℃, generating silicon carbide blocks. Temperature and pressure parameters are monitored in real time during the smelting process to ensure complete reaction.

3. Crushing and Screening: Jaw crushers are used for coarse crushing, and cone crushers for fine crushing, combined with vibrating screens for grading, to screen out granular products of different sizes. Magnetic separation and acid-base washing processes are also used to remove iron filings and soluble impurities. 4. Quality Inspection: Using equipment such as spectrophotometers and hardness testers, we test the purity of SiC, carbon and silicon content, particle size distribution, and mechanical properties to ensure that the product meets industry standards and customer specifications.
