Laser Cutting Stainless Steel Sheet
Products Description
laser cutting stainless steel sheet enable efficient fabrication of any design via CNC programming, 3–5 times faster than traditional methods. Bright vertical edges eliminate secondary polishing, greatly reducing post-processing cost. High material yield and no mold wear make it ideal for small-batch, multi-variety and complex parts. Corrosion and wear resistant with stable dimensions, widely applied in high-end sheet metal, auto parts, rail transit, aerospace components. Custom surface finishes including brushed, mirror, sandblasting are available.

The Laser Cutting Process
1. Drawing Import and Programming: Import CAD/vector drawings into the cutting system. The software automatically generates the cutting path and sets parameters such as power, speed, and air pressure.
2. Sheet Loading and Positioning: The stainless steel sheet is placed on the work platform and fixed by clamps or vacuum adsorption. The system automatically calibrates the origin and flatness. 3. Laser Emission and Focusing: A fiber laser emits a high-energy laser beam, which is focused into an extremely small spot by a lens, instantly reaching temperatures of thousands of degrees Celsius.
4. Melting/Vaporization Cutting: The laser focal point instantly melts or even vaporizes stainless steel, while high-pressure auxiliary gas (oxygen/nitrogen/air) blows away the molten slag.
5. CNC Moving Cutting: The machine tool moves the laser head or worktable according to a program to complete contour cutting such as straight lines, arcs, irregular shapes, and hollow designs.
6. Real-time Cooling and Slag Removal: Continuous air cooling during cutting reduces thermal deformation and slag buildup, ensuring a smooth cut surface without obvious burrs.
7. Unloading and Quality Inspection: After cutting, the workpiece is removed, and its dimensional accuracy and cut surface quality are checked. After removing a small amount of residue, it can proceed to subsequent processes such as bending and welding.
Applications
Applicable Scenarios: Industrial Machinery and Parts: Used for cutting and processing core components such as sheet metal chassis and cabinets, mechanical panels, irregularly shaped connectors, and spring sheets, precisely matching mechanical assembly requirements and improving equipment operational stability.
Architectural Decoration and Home Furnishings: Can cut stainless steel screens, signs, stair railings, kitchenware accessories, etc., easily achieving complex patterns and shapes, adding a high-end feel to architectural and home spaces.
Precision Instruments and Medical Devices: Used for processing surgical instrument frames, medical equipment housings, sensor brackets, precision instrument panels, etc., meeting stringent requirements for high cleanliness, burr-free operation, and high precision, complying with EU medical device production standards.
Automotive and Rail Transportation: Applied to cutting automotive exhaust pipe components, interior trim parts, chassis parts, sensor mounts, etc., adapting to the automotive industry's high requirements for precision and corrosion resistance, contributing to lightweight automotive production.
Electronics, Electrical Appliances, and Communication Equipment: Used for cutting precision components such as mobile phone frames, heat sinks, shielding covers, connectors, etc., high-precision processing ensures the compatibility and stability of electronic components.

FAQ
Q1: Will laser cutting cause stainless steel sheets to discolor or oxidize?
A1: No. We use high-purity nitrogen as an auxiliary gas for melting and cutting, effectively preventing oxidation and discoloration of the cut surface of stainless steel plates. The cut edges retain the metallic luster of the stainless steel and can be used directly without additional treatment. If the customer is cost-sensitive, flame cutting can be used for thick plates, and surface rust removal and polishing services can be provided afterward.
Q2: What are the thicknesses and materials of stainless steel plates that can be cut?
A2: We support common austenitic stainless steels such as 304, 316, and 201. Our standard high-efficiency cutting thickness is 0.5mm-12mm. Plates thicker than 12mm-25mm can be custom-cut (process parameters need to be adjusted). We can provide a one-stop service for sourcing and cutting plates of corresponding thicknesses and materials according to customer needs.
