Product Description
High carbon silicon, the silicon content is generally between 50% - 90%, and the carbon content is relatively high (usually 3% - 10%), which is different from low carbon silicon (carbon content <0.5%) and medium carbon silicon (carbon content 0.5% - 3%). The high carbon content makes it have both the deoxidation of silicon and the carburization of carbon.
Products application
1. High carbon silicon can be used as an inoculant and carburizer to improve the graphite morphology of cast iron (such as promoting the transformation of flake graphite to spherical or worm-like), improve the strength, wear resistance and toughness of cast iron, and is used to manufacture castings such as machine tool beds and engine cylinders.
2. High carbon silicon can be used to produce other silicon-based alloys (such as silicon-manganese alloys, silicon-ferroalloys), or as a reducing agent to participate in the reduction reaction of certain metal oxides (such as an auxiliary reducing agent when smelting magnesium, titanium and other metals).
3. The carbon in high carbon silicon can replenish the carbon lost in the molten steel during the smelting process and adjust the carbon content of the steel (such as used in the production of medium carbon steel and high carbon steel), without the need to add additional carburizers, thus reducing costs.
