Product Description

Silicon carbide is a compound in which silicon and carbon are bonded in a 1:1 atomic ratio. Its crystal structure is mainly covalently bonded, and there are many homogeneous polymorphs (i.e. "polymorphs"), the most common of which are α-SiC (hexagonal or rhombohedral structure, stable at high temperature) and β-SiC (cubic structure, stable at low temperature, and can be converted to α-SiC above 3000℃). Its Mohs hardness is as high as 9.5 (second only to diamond) and its melting point is about 2700℃. It is a typical superhard and high-temperature resistant ceramic material.

Products application

1. RF devices: used for high-frequency signal amplification in 5G base stations and radar systems (resistant to higher power and reduced signal loss);

2. High-temperature electronics: high-temperature sensors and control circuits in oil exploration and aircraft engines (can work stably above 300°C).

3. Refractory materials: used for linings and thermocouple protection tubes of high-temperature kilns (good thermal shock resistance);

4. Luminescent materials: SiC doped with rare earth elements can be made into blue or green light-emitting diodes (early LED technology);

5. Nuclear industry: as nuclear fuel cladding material (radiation-resistant and high-temperature corrosion-resistant).
