Ar500 carbon steel is a high carbon alloy steel known for its wear resistance, strength, and toughness. The "500" in ar500 carbon steel refers to its Brinell Hardness Number (BHN), which measures its hardness on a Brinell hardness tester. AR500 has a BHN of 477-534, which is much harder than other steels. It is often used in applications that require high wear and impact resistance, such as the manufacture of armor plates, mining equipment, and heavy construction tools.
