Ferro Chrome Alloy For Foundry And Metallurgical Refining

Ferro chrome is an iron alloy with iron and chromium as the main components, usually containing impurity elements such as carbon, silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, etc. The chromium content is generally between 50% and 70% (some special varieties can be higher). It is one of the most important alloying additives in the steel industry. Its core function is to provide chromium elements for steel or cast iron, thereby improving the performance of the material.

Product Introduction

Product Introduction

Ferro Chrome Alloy for Foundry and Metallurgical Refining uses chromium and iron as its main components, with a chromium content typically between 50% and 75%. It precisely optimizes the properties of cast iron and cast steel: added to cast iron, it improves hardness and wear resistance; a chromium content of 0.5%-1.0% can significantly improve mechanical properties. In cast steel production, it can adjust the alloy composition, refine the grain structure, reduce inclusions and cracks in castings, and improve the strength and service life of castings. It is widely used in automotive pistons, mining machinery parts, chemical equipment castings, mold casting, and other applications, and is compatible with various casting equipment such as electric arc furnaces and induction furnaces.

Product Category of Ferro Chrome Alloy for Foundry and Metallurgical Refining

High-carbon ferrochrome alloy: containing 4%-8% carbon and 55%-70% chromium, prepared using an electric arc furnace melting process, characterized by a moderate melting point and high alloying efficiency. Its core advantage lies in its ability to significantly improve the hardenability, hardness, and wear resistance of steel parts while reducing smelting costs. It is a core alloying agent in metallurgical refining for the production of ball bearing steel, tool steel, and mold steel. It can also be used as an additive for cast iron, improving its wear resistance and heat resistance, and is widely applied in casting applications such as automotive parts and mechanical molds.

Medium-carbon ferrochrome alloy: Contains 0.5%-4% carbon and 60%-72% chromium. Its composition is optimized through refining and decarburization processes, resulting in a balance of strength and toughness. It is suitable for producing low- and medium-carbon structural steel and carburizing steel in metallurgical refining, and can be used to manufacture high-precision mechanical parts such as gears, high-pressure blower blades, and valve plates. In the casting field, it can effectively adjust the chemical composition of castings, reduce cracking tendency, and improve the structural stability of castings, meeting the production needs of mid- to high-end mechanical castings.

Low-carbon ferrochrome alloy: Contains 0.15%-0.5% carbon and 63%-68% chromium, with higher purity and excellent oxidation resistance. Primarily used in metallurgical refining for the production of acid-resistant steel, heat-resistant steel, and low-carbon chromium steel, it forms a dense protective oxide film on the steel surface, enhancing corrosion resistance. In precision casting, it prevents carbide brittleness, improving the surface finish and mechanical properties of castings, making it suitable for high-end casting applications such as chemical equipment and heat-resistant components.

Micro-carbon ferrochrome alloy: Carbon content ≤0.15% (some models as low as 0.03%), chromium content 64%-68%, produced using electrosilicon heating and hot-mixing methods, resulting in extremely high purity and low impurity content (sulfur ≤0.03%, phosphorus ≤0.06%). Specifically designed for refining high-end metallurgical products such as stainless steel and electrothermal alloys, it is also suitable for the production of high-end equipment castings in precision casting, maximizing the product's oxidation and corrosion resistance to meet the stringent requirements of aerospace, medical devices, food machinery, and other demanding applications.
