After installing a stainless steel plate, it is important to remove the protective film promptly. For cleaning the stainless steel plate, a special stainless steel cleaner should be used. A common method involves wiping the plate from end to end with talcum powder (also known as double fly powder), followed by a thorough rinse with clean water. It is essential to dry the plate completely afterward. The reason for promptly removing the protective film is to avoid the glue from sticking too long or the film aging, which can make it difficult or impossible to remove.
Removing the film in a timely manner also allows for the early detection of any surface issues. It prevents contaminated or corrosive liquids from seeping under the film unnoticed, which could expose the plate surface to a prolonged humid and corrosive environment, leading to severe surface corrosion.
Protection of Stainless Steel Plate
If other processes are still ongoing, additional protective measures must be taken to safeguard the surface of the stainless steel plate after the film has been removed. A common accidental damage at construction sites is splashing cement or mortar. Like other building materials, any splashed mortar should be washed off with plenty of water before it solidifies. If the grout dries and hardens, it can be very difficult or even impossible to remove without leaving streaks on the stainless steel surface. Cleaners designed to remove grout from tiles should not be used on stainless steel, as they often contain strong chemicals that can corrode the surface.
